Frozen Goodbye
The snow fell relentlessly, muffling the world outside as Mia stood by the window, heart pounding. It was Christmas Eve, their night—the night she and Jake always met beneath the oak tree in the park. But this year, the air felt different, colder. He hadn’t called. He hadn’t replied.
Tears welled up, but she pushed them back. Maybe he was just running late. Maybe… She quickly pulled on her coat and rushed outside, the snow biting her skin. The park was empty, the oak tree standing alone in the dark. He wasn’t there.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was Jake. Her fingers trembled as she read the message:
“I can’t do this anymore. I thought I could, but the snow reminds me of too much. I’m letting go.”
Mia’s breath caught in her chest, the cold air too sharp to swallow. The words felt like ice, the chill crawling through her veins. She dropped the phone, the world spinning as the snow continued to fall, erasing everything but the heartbreak.
